“Don't start with 12 years. Start with 7 days, a written vow and four anchors: sleep, food, training, company.”
Start Absurdly Small
The beginner's error is vowing a year on day one and collapsing by Friday. Take a 7-day vow — written, dated, signed. Keep it. Then 14. Then 30. Small vows kept build the identity of a man who keeps vows.
The Four Anchors
Sleep: fixed bedtime and wake time, phone outside the bedroom. Most relapses happen tired, late and alone with a screen.
Food: simple, fresh, moderate; light dinner; limit intoxicants entirely — they dissolve resolve first and continence second.
Training: daily sweat. The body must spend the energy retention saves, or the energy spends you.
Company: limit time with friends whose talk orbits lust, gossip and intoxication. Polite distance, not lectures. Add one uplifting association — a reading group, training partner or devotional gathering.
The Daily Minimum (20 Minutes)
- Morning: 5 minutes breath awareness + state the vow aloud.
- Day: one page of study (Semen Retention for Beginners).
- Night: 5-line log — sleep, food, training, highest urge (0–10), tomorrow's guardrail.
What the First 30 Days Feel Like
Week 1: noise and testing. Week 2: first lightness. Week 3: the flatline or the surge — both pass. Week 4: quiet confidence and the desire to continue. None of it requires heroics — only the anchors, daily.
